Item Details
Description
New Hampshire History; Hampton, 1732. Land transfer deed between Joseph and Mehetable Batchelor and Benjamin Moulton, sectioning off a 12 acre tract from Batchelor's land for 84 Pounds (half paid upfront, the other in "merchantable cattle"); land handed down from Joseph's grandfather, notable English Clergyman Stephen Bachiler, founder of Hampton, NH and early Colonial proponent of the seperation between Church and State. Much of the document dedicated to detailing the borders of the 12 acre tract and the terms of payment. "the said farm is bounded northly on land of Samuel Molchors eastly on the road that goes from Exeter to Hampton Falls southly on the land of John Crambs..." Seemingly written in Mehetable's own hand, given the context and penmanship. Signed by both Batchelor's next to wax seals, dated December 22, 1732. Overall excellent condion in archival frame. Slight foxing and loss along previous fold lines. 12" x 15". (See photos for full transcription.)
