This exceptionally figurative art deco table lamp was created by a French sculptor named J. Salvado. A kneeling woman as half nude is placed on an onyx base, carrying a console on her shoulder, on which a lampshade by Verrerie Schneider is mounted.



The sculptural lamp is overall in good condition. The edges of the base slightly bumped, the patina lightly rubbed. The sculpture is signed on the plinth ‘J. Salvado ‘. The lampshade by Verrerie Schneider with orange and rose-colored powder meltings. Electrified. No guarantee on functionality. Overall height: 43.5 cm.



Verreries Schneider

The art objects of the well-known glass manufactory Schneider are one of the highlights of French Art Deco. The brothers Ernest and Charles Schneider learned glass machining in the Compagnie française du cristal Daum and established their own company in Épinay-sur-Seine in 1913, which in the 1920s had the same standing as the famous workshop of René Lalique. The popular glass manufactory’s international success was apparent especially after 1918 but suffered from the Great Depression of 1929, eventually leading to the company’s dissolution in 1938. To this day, their glass creations enjoy great popularity due to their remarkable and creative forms and decorations. (cru)
