French Inlaid Rosewood Gilt Ormolu Mounted Commode, 20th c., the amazing thick stepped edge Breche d'Alpes marble over two deep drawers flanked by gilt ormolu mounted legs, with gilt ormolu sabots, H.- 34 3/4 in., W.- 51 in., D.- 21 in.

Condition consistent with age and use. The marble top is seen with some faint scattered scratches, and flea-sized losses to the stepped edge. A few ¼ inch or smaller old losses to veneer are noted along drawer edges. Scattered flea-sized losses to gilt are observed throughout hardware. A few scuffs and scratches are present throughout drawers and side panels, but do not detract from the overall presentation. A few spots of bubbling to veneer are seen along the back edge of the right side panel, and at the top of the back right leg. The left side panel is seen with some cracking to veneer along the back edge and back leg, and a ½ inch loss to veneer at the center of the back edge. A truly splendid example.
