Description
Pre-Columbian, Mayan, possibly Jaina, ca. 500-700 CE. A sweetly modeled bird vessel with appliqued eyes, beak, wings, and tail feathers. Hints of a beautiful robin blue glaze remain on the surface. Measures 3-1/4" tall x 3" long x 2-1/4" wide.
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 200 BCE - 200 CE. Petite hand-built ceramic redware bird with outspread wings and perky tail. Measures 2-1/2" tall x 2-1/4" long x 2-1/4" wide.
Provenance: Ex-Adeon Gallery, Chicago, IL, acquired prior to 1970.
