Description
Pre-Columbian, Mayan territories, Peten Guatemala, ca 550 to 800 CE. Large and vibrantly painted pottery plate. In shades of red, black and orange in shallow form with decoration of 4 fruit-like glyphs, each similar yet different and possibly each with numbered sequence. As often seen, a kill hole has been placed in the exact center and was carefully drilled - not punched as is often seen. SizeL 12-3/4" D (32.4 cm).
