Description
An early 20th century beryl and diamond bar brooch. The rectangular-shape foil-back beryl, with diamond point foliate panel, to the replacement bar. Bar and pin with Austrian marks. Length 5.3cms. Total weight 8.2gms.
Condition
Overall condition fair. Some surface wear and discolouration in keeping with general age and wear. The beryl and diamond panel dates from the early 20th century, converted to a bar brooch. Bar is of a similar age. Minimal soft solder. Diamonds fairly well matched, closed-back settings. Diamonds in fair condition with some significant nicks and chips. Due to the closed-back settings and nature of the diamond point it has not been possible to calculate an accurate total diamond weight. Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment. Beryl is within a green-colour foil-back setting. Appears colourless to the edges. Fairly good clarity with typical inclusions. Stone in fair to good condition with some abrasion and minor nicks to the facet edges. Please see the Important Notices for Purchasers for coloured gemstones. Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition.
