Description
A late 19th century gold amethyst cross brooch. The circular-shape amethyst, to the vari-size pear-shape amethyst arms. Length 4.5cms. Weight 8.6gms.
Condition
Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear. Some of the claws appear a little loose. Amethyst light purple, fairly weak saturation of colour, with fair clarity and typical inclusions. Stones in fair condition with some abrasion and minor nibbles to the girdle and facet edges. The amethyst brooch appears to have originally part of something else, with indentations and raised areas visible to the back of the settings. The brooch fitting added at a later date.
