Condition:

The bronze is in good condition according to age. There are light traces of oxidation on the shirt of the smith. The figure measures 24 cm in height, including the plinth.

Wilhelm Albermann (1835-1913)

Wilhelm Albermann attended the Kunstakademie in Berlin. He initially worked for his teachers Hugo Hagen and August Fischer, before he settled as a freelance sculptor in Cologne in 1865. In 1871 he founded a commercial art school. Albermann created numerous monuments in public spaces, such as the sculptures of Franz Ferdinand Wallraf Richartz and Johann Heinrich in front of the Museum of Applied Arts in Cologne. (cbo)
