Beautiful Scrimshaw Carved Seashell & Guide Book. Large abalone spiral seashell is scrimshaw decorated with a portrait of a large steam ship, title and specifications are also inscribed; “The Great Eastern Steam Ship, 25000 Tons, Length 692 ft, width 83 ft, depth 60 ft. Has a large repair in the lower section through the center of the lettering. 5.5 in. high x 5 in. wide x 3.25 in. high. Accompanied by the "Guide-Book to the Great Eastern", published 1860, New York; the guide book accompanied visitors who toured the ship.
