Description
Made of fine plaster cast, face of a Romano-Egyptian funerary mask, depicting a youthful woman with gentle faced features. The eyes are painted white, with stark black pupils and borders. She bears an aquiline nose, above thin, pursed lips, hair is painted black, and shown close cropped, however there are remains of a fiberous overlay, representing strands of hair, and she wears an ochre wreath of floral leaves, over her hair. The ground color of the face is a yellow ochre with gilding on the partially worn surface. Circa 30 B.C.-300 A.D.Measurements: 7 1/4 in. H.
