This table globe was made by the company Ludwig Julius Heymann. He had moved his bookstore, which he had founded in Wroclaw, to Berlin in 1861 where he started producing globes in various sizes.



Condition:

The globe is in good overall condition. Occasional small cracks (lightly soiled) and partial abrasions, otherwise overall of good impression. It measures approximately 61 cm in height.



Geographisch Artistische Anstalt Ludwig Julius Heymann

Ludwig Julius Heymann was born in Breslau, yet in 1861 he moved his bookshop to Berlin where he started producing terrestrial globes in 1883 with the comany’s name Geografic artistical institution Ludwig Julius Heymann. He quickly established his company on the market and was regarded as one of the most important manufacturers of globes in his day. For a longer period employed in the company was Prof Dr. Henry Lange, who reviewed and created the segments. After Heymanns‘ death in 1899, the company was lead on by employees and later by several owners. The company was relocated to Leipzig after the 1st World War and there it merged with Wagner & Debes, the famous publishing house for maps and atlases, especially for schools.
