Besides the bears made by Steiff, Hermann and Schuco, Bing teddys are the most sought after collectibles. Bing began the production of mechanical and structured bears in 1907 and continued it until the dissolution of the company in 1932. Typical Bing teddy bears can be recognized, among other things, by the paws embroidered with four claws and the seams on the back and the legs.
Condition:
The teddy is in good condition commensurate with age. The mohair is partly thinned. The felt paws have been renewed. The eyes are slightly scratched. The head’s movement mechanism works fine, but long-term functionality cannot be guaranteed. The length of the teddy is 39 cm.
Gebrüder Bing
In 1866, Ignaz und Adolf Bing founded a retail company, but soon started producing their own products. From 1879, they began the manufacture of tin toys, and in the early 20th century Bing was the most important toy producer in the world, best known for the high quality model railways. The product range also included steam engines as well as mechanical figures and cars. The toy production was ceased in 1932. (cko)
