Marino Marini (1901-1980)
Marini studied from 1917 onwards at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. In 1928, he travelled to Paris, where he spent consistently the following years. There, he met the artists Giorgio de Chirico, Wassily Kandinsky and Aristide Maillol. Later, he met Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, the two founders of the Avant-garde. A popular topic of the Italian artist is the connection between horses and humans. Marini's most famous sculpture – ‘L'angelo della citta’ - depicts a naked man sitting on the horse, in the patio of the Peggy Guggenheim Museum in Venice. (fea)
