Since 1969 Edition Schellmann produced editions of international contemporary art. Thereby the spectrum of featured artists ranges from the big names of the second half of the 20th century, like Joseph Beuys, Christo and Andy Warhol, to outstanding representatives of the contemporary art scene, e.g. Sarah Morris or Santiago Sierra. The present leporello originates from the special edition B, which was included together with several other leporellos in the Edition Schellmann Catalogue raisonné 1969-2009 with the title ‘Forty Are Better Than One’.

Condition:

The leporello is in a very good condition with minor signs of wear resp. finger stains. The total dimensions of the unfolded leporello measure 174 x 31.9 cm, the dimensions of each image is 24.2 x 31.3 cm.

Robert Longo (b. 1953)

Robert Longo started his artistic training at the Buffalo State College, where he graduated in 1975. At that time it was his fellow student Cindy Sherman, who inspired him to deal with different media such as installation, performance, video art and photography. Since then he has expanded his artistic output to further fields such as painting, printmaking and film. Longo’s work has been included in the Whitney Biennial in New York, documenta in Kassel, and the Venice Biennale, among many other prestigious exhibitions. The Kunstverein Hamburg as well as the Deichtorhallen in Hamburg organized retrospective exhibitions. He currently lives and works in New York. (nlu)
