This exceptional primer was manufactured in North India in the 19th century. It is made of iron and has the shape of a ‘makara’ head. The makara is known from Hindu mythology and serves as the vehicle of the goddess of the river Ganges. The primer is decorated with beautiful silver damascening and the spring mechanism is in working condition.
Condition:
The primer is well-preserved and only reveals small traces of age and use. It measures 13 cm in length. (cbo)
