The Sahara 02501 meteorite demonstrated deep regmaglypts, or thumbprint like impressions, on the glossy black fusion crust of its tetrahedral faces when discovered in May 2002. Also informally named ‘Ti Hedjirine’ after the local area, the partly molten achondrite of the Eucrite class is characterized by an overall glomerophyric texture with aggregate clusters of various mineral phenocrysts. Measuring 4 x 6 3/8 x 1/16 in. (height x width x depth) and weighing 0.07 pounds, this beautiful slice demonstrates a finely grained surface in both warm and cold colored hues ranging from blue and gray to cream and brown.
