China, Qing Dynasty to early Republic period, ca. 1900- 1925 CE. An elegant plaque carved from "mutton fat" jade with opposing birds (phoenix perhaps?), each with incised decoration. A rounded "bi" is suspended between the pair. Size: 3-3/4"W x 4"H.
