Warp: Wool and goat hair(?) mixed, gray, brown, natural, z2s. No depression.
Weft: Wool and cotton. Two shoots.
Sides: Original not extant.
Ends: Groups of four or five knotted together and then reknotted to form a alternating second row of knots between the first.
Colors: (8) Tomato red, surmeh blue, medium blue, blue green, light apricot, purple, ivory, medium brown.
Design: On a red field are seven complete and two partial columns of Chodor “hooked†ashik devices. The devices are done in various combinations of all the above colors. The main border consists of pairs of diamonds alternating in red and ivory. The are barber pole guard strips on either side. Both the upper and lower elem are trapezoidal in shape, indicating it’s function as a saddle rug. The elems contain the same “hooked†ashik devices as in the main field. The upper elem also has a barber pole guard stripe outlining the outer edge, confirming that this is the original shape and not a mat that has been altered. I believe the knotted fringe is original as well. This piece has a palette of what is considered a “rose†type Chodor.
