Knot type: Asymmetrical, open left, wool, z2; silk, z2, hor: sq. inch: 15 330 vert: 22 magenta only; cotton z2, white only.
Warp: Goat hair or wool, creamy ivory, natural, z2s, hard evenly plied. Finely ribbed.
Weft: Wool, dark brown, natural, z2s, two shoots alternating, one straight, one wavy, very fine.
Sides: Original not extant.
Ends: Original not extant.
Colors: (13) Bluish ruby red, deep brownish purple, deep cochineal, dark green, ivory, burnt ocher, medium dark brown, brownish yellow, surmeh blue, sapphire, magenta (silk), white (cotton), deep rose. Typical subdued early Salor palette.
Design: Classic sixteen gul Salor chuval. Ruby red field with standard blue outlined, quartered guls in ivory and ocher containing blue and magenta centers. Flattened octagonal minor guls in the same tones as the major guls with extra use of yellow and prominent “bird†heads. Minor guls are halved at top and bottom of field. Purple brown border with kotchak cartouches in dark blue holding pinwheel rosettes. Deep rose red guard borders with connected “S“ pattern in dark green or sapphire. Lower field elem with standing plants with drooping branches in blue or cochineal. Plain ruby upper elem topped with blue crenelation.
