Six Story Apartment Building

Sign In to see what this sold for

folk art six story apartment building from the New Jersy Shore. This magnificent architectural model superbly portrays the renaissance revival style of design popular with architects in the last quarter of the 19th century and is replete with three dimensional detailing with cutout fretwork railings on 4 levels, coining on all bays and main facade, deep molding on roof line, neo classical blend of arched and triangular pedimented window treatment and a grand stepped and gated entranceway. This glorious facade is matched by an equally multifloored interior with elaborate stairways and finished wallpaper and interior trimwork. No detail has been spared right down to artwork hanging on the walls in tiny wooden frames. Each room has been furnished with French lead dollhouse furiture including 29 beds, 57 chairs, 4 chaise lounges, 5 pianos, 6 tables, 11 dressers, all of which are perfectly scaled to this grand construction in half inch scale and peopled with 16 tiny articulated all bisque dolls in their original crocheted costumes. The terraced platform still displays 3 original light bulbs of the Edison form, c.1903
33" h. x 33.5" w. x 16.5" d.
