The third generation Ford F-Series trucks were produced from 1957-1960. Following the design changes made by Dodge and General Motors, Ford integrated the front fenders and cab of the truck. Ford went a step forward by incorporating a “clam shell” designed hood, which would be part of the F-Series truck lineup for over twenty years. Two types of pick up boxes were offered by introducing two distinct styles. The traditional “Flairside” external fender version would be complimented with a new “Styleside” version where fenders were incorporated inside the bed itself. 1959 was the first year Ford introduced the option of four-wheel drive, being the first manufacturer to offer the option on its own. Previously Ford, as well as the other light truck manufacturers, outsourced the four-wheel drive system to companies like Marmon-Herrington. The standard power plant was the 223 cu in 145 hp “mileage maker” in line six -cylinder engine. A 292 cu in “Y” block V8 was offered as an option. Presented is a custom build 1959 Ford F100 Flareside pick-up truck. Powered by the standard 223 cu in “Mileage Maker” engine and four-speed manual transmission, this F Series stands tall on its heightend lift kit and oversized tires and wheels. All suspension components are new or rebuilt in order to provide more modern handling and ride quality.
