Description
Artist: Walter Richards
Publisher: Division of Information – Office for Emergency Management, Office of War Information
Year: 1942
Details/Condition: This is one of several World War I and II posters we are selling at this auction. Here we have a striking, colorful original American WWII military poster. The image features four soldiers bouncing along in an army Jeep with gun muzzles upturned. Curiously, these are presumed to be American soldiers but appear to be wearing British helmets. The image bears the artist's signature in the plate. The bottom text reads, "Save Rubber – Check Your Tires Now." The print shows beautifully with bright, vivid colors and has some age/wear including pinholes, some toning, some light edge wear, and the piece had been folded in eighths with some beginning separation along the edges of some of the fold lines. The sheet measures approximately 28.5" by 40". Shipping cost (within the U.S.) for this lot will be: $12.50
