Terracotta with paint. China, Han dynasty, approx. 2nd cent. BC
A well over 2000 year old horse from a burial site, originally crafted with wooden legs (decomposed). Good expressive head with large dark eyes, ears sharply pointed towards the back (tufts of hair missing). The colour paint on top of the white base surface is well-preserved in many places and shows a horse tack and tassels, as well as partly unrestrained and dynamic decorative details. Restored and gracefully mounted on a well-fitted acrylic glass base. HEIGHT (WITHOUT BASE) 23,3 CM, LENGTH 30,3 CM
