Very effective composition presenting the famous first patriarch of Zen Buddhism on a bizarre cliff. Daruma (short for Bodaidaruma resp. in Sanskrit Bodhidharma) was from an Indian royal family and founded this special meditative order in China in 6th cent. Das The okimono offers a wild rock formation on which the standing Daruma is leaning. His clothing is billowing and gilded. HEIGHT 4,9 CM (DARUMA approx. 3,1 CM)
