Pair of Worcester Oval Dishes, Circa 1770s, each of lobed oval form derived from a contemporary silver shape, transfer decorated in underglaze cobalt blue, centered with a Gilliflower spray (French term for carnation) , various scattered sprays and a butterfly within a 1 inch raised molded basketweave border finished with a underglaze blue rim , with underglaze blue crescent moon mark, greatest width 25cm, 10 in. [Gilliflower is a named pattern derived from Chantilly porcelain and introduced at Worcester arround 1770.]
