Description
A fabulous "Faces of the World" cane. The ivory handle is 2 1/8" high and 2" at its widest. It depicts in very nice detail, four generic faces with white sulfide eyes. There is a European, an Oriental, an African and a North American Indian with each face presented under palm trees and leaves. The carving is top quality. There is a 3/4" silver collar with a smooth, oval, blown-out cartouche and there are worn and tarnished Continental hallmarks, perhaps German. The silver collar is decorated similarly to the natural briar-wood shaft that ends with a 1 1/2" bi-metal ferrule. The overall length is 35 1/3" and the condition is very good. It is ca 1885, and it is a wonderful carved ivory example. Estimate: $2000-$3000. This lot is subject to shipping restrictions outlined in Terms and Conditions.
