A silver cane with overlaid copper birds

Item Details

Description

A very nice silver cane with overlaid copper birds. The silver knob handle is 2 7/8" high and 1 1/3" across the smooth top. The sides are embossed and textured and there are two copper flying swallows overlaid as highlights. The base has two raised rings with angled lines and it is marked: "Sterling", at the very bottom. The shaft is tan bamboo that ends with a thin 1" white metal and iron ferrule. The overall length is 34 2/3" and the condition is very good, with a minor dimple-dent on the top. It is American, ca 1895, and it is a fine example of the kind. Estimate: $450-$650.
