A very nice Japanese bamboo fishing rod gadget cane. The bamboo shaft has a natural bulbous root handle. Etched in shallow relief on the shaft is a geisha girl and a bird, along with decorative lines and dots. It ends with a 2" brass ferrule that unscrews to access the attached rod that telescopes out to a length of eighty two inches. A small metal eyelet is at the end of the rod for attaching a line. On page 37, picture #4/3, of Dike's Cane Curiosa, a close example is shown. The overall length as a cane is 36" and the condition is very good. It is ca 1910, and it is a fine, usable example.
