A very rare hardbound copy of Family Walking Sticks by George Mogridge. It was written in Staffordshire, England, published in London, and it contains a hand written presentation dated 1870. It chronicles a family’s history of the walking sticks they owned as well as the speech of the author’s grandfather that tells the history of canes in general and their varied evolution. There are prints of various owners wearing their sticks. It is in very good condition and is the earliest example of books on the subject that we have encountered. It is part of the Robert Pearson Collection. Estimate: $500-$700.
