A great patented fruit picker gadget cane

Item Details

Description

A great patented fruit picker gadget cane. The brass knob handle is 1/3" high and 1 1/4" in diameter. It is inscribed on the top: "A.C. Harris, Patent, (number obliterated), Leicester". It blends into a metal device that activates a fruit-picker at the base. By turning the brass knob the picker can be opened or closed, as needed. The shaft is hardwood that has been decorated with pyrography and the finish is crazed with age. The overall length is 36 3/4" and the condition is very good with all mechanics working. It is English, ca 1885, and an exact example is shown on page 249, 25/17 of Dike's Cane Curiosa. Estimate: $1000-$1500.
