PAIR CARVED CINNABAR VASES AND COVERS

Of tapered ovoid form, decorated with flowers and villagers with associated wood stands, DRILLED.
12 in. (30 cm.) high

Both the lids have been drilled for lamps. The interiors are black lacquer. The quality is very good, the background detail is of very good quality, the are both soiled but a good surface sheen/patina has developed. The proportions are good, as well as being delicate in their stance. It is our opinion the vessels are of 19th century origin or slightly earlier. (?)
