Douglas MacArthur Items With Rare Wartime Autograph
DOUGLAS MacARTHUR (January 26, 1880 - April 5, 1964). American Major General and Field Marshal of the Philippine Army and a Chief of Staff of the United States Army.
1942-Dated WW II, Wartime Autograph by American Military Hero General Douglas MacArthur is the highlight of this Lot of Three MacArthur related collectibles. The Illustrated Postal Envelope, which is printed with MacArthur’s classic profile, was mailed from “MacArthur, W.V.” to the General’s Headquarters in Australia. It was there magnificently Autographed by MacArthur, then returned to Robert Brown, who was one of the foremost collectors of autographs in the United States at that time. Also included in this lot are a small (1” diameter”) political button reading, “MacArthur for America 1948” and a 1951 Reprint of the full text of General MacArthur’s famous “Farewell” speech. The Broadside Reprint measures approximately 22” x 15” and is from the Ohio State Journal, Columbus, Ohio, Friday, April 20, 1951. The Signed Postal Cover, being sent from “MacArthur, W.V.”, is particularly interesting for collectors. (3 items)
