Execution of the Lincoln Conspirators Photograph Print
c. 1865 Post-Lincoln Assasination Period, Original Silver Print Photograph of the Execution of the Lincoln Conspirators including Mary Surratt, Washington, D.C., Choice Very Fine.
Rare Silver Print Photograph likely of the original negative, of the Execution by Hanging of the Lincoln Conspirators, including Mary Surratt, the first white woman to be executed by the United States Federal Government, Washington, July 7, 1865. Measures approximately 7.5” x 5.25” by sight and mounted with tape onto a gray cardboard matte measuring approximately 8” x 10”. Overall very good condition with a scratch on top right corner of image and a crease in left bottom side. On the reverse is a pencil notation: “Execution of the Lincoln conspirators, Washington, 1865.” A second notation in blue pencil is below, reads, “July 7 - 1865 - The trap was sprung at 1:20 1/2 P.M. The bodies were cut down at 1:55.”
