Description
The gilt bronze bodhisattva seated in padmasana on a Pala Indian base and making the vitarka and dhyana mudras of explanation and mediation, with a serene expression and urna depicted on his downcast face above which is snail-shell curled hair piled around a protruding ushnisha. The bodhisattva wears patterned robes, a diadem with five points and jewelry embellished with red and green enamels. Approx. 3 7/8 by 2 3/4 in., 10 by 7 cm.
