(lot of 2) Collection of framed art, comprising: (1) ink on paper drawing, after medallion by Augustus Saint-Gaudens of author Robert Louis Stevenson, signed on back Ula Milner(Newcomb College graduate class of 1924, mentioned in The Arrow of Pi Beta Phi, Vol 39 Issue 2, pg 377, Dec. 1922), (1) Orientalist print, Bab Zuweyleh- The Gate of Metwalis, by J.C. Bourne after a drawing by Owen B. Carter, originally published in "Illustrations of Cairo", title, inscription and numbers to bottom, affixed to matte, sight: 15.5"h, 10.25"w, overall: 21.75"h, 16.25"w, 6lbs total *Provenance: By inheritance and within the family of Selina Elizabeth Bres Gregory (American, 1870-1953), sculptor and early decorator of Newcomb College pottery and Angela Gregory (New Orleans, 1903-1990), a noted American sculptor and professor of art. Gregory graduated from Newcomb College, New Orleans in 1925, studied at Parsons School of Fine and Applied Arts in Paris. She studied stone sculpturing with Antoine Bourdelle in Paris and her work was exhibited in 1928. Returning to New Orleans, she was commissioned to produce a number of sculptures including the Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne de Bienville monument and eventually was a professor and sculptor-in-residence for two decades at St. Mary’s Dominican College.
