This work dates from 1913 when Bluemner showed at the 1913 New York Armory Show.

A loose translation of the writing verso is:
Beautiful is the proportion of the space and the rhythm that dominates these proportions, everything about the thing – forms, so leads the eye to their masses and colors. The green in the mountains would have as mountains for the mind all the same green in tone and nuance, but their different direction changes the effect of the light so that the tone of the green color; just as the removal of air and light otherwise has no meaning for the dimensional shape. Despite the blue and green, a potent red glimmer shines above all.

A wonderful look into how this early colorist approached his love and work.
