Description
Thomas Hart Benton (American, 1889-1975). "Morning Train (Soldier's Farewell)", Associated American Artists original lithograph, edition of 250, pencil signed lower right "Benton" and within plate "Benton". American Regionalist gray scale lithograph depicting a group of three people standing at a wooden train station depot, one being a soldier leaving for war holding his female companion as a third figure looks on, the train approaching from a distance beside a coal silo and under electrical lines with a period truck or car to left of train tracks. Framed approximately 16.25" x 18.75", image size 9.375" x 13.5".

Condition
Work laid down on board. Mat border securely adhered to front of work, likely interfering with integrity of paper, visible losses to bottom of sheet from attached mat. Work looked at on side with looser mat board and found visible mat burn and even toning to sheet.
