Author: Nelson, Horatio
9 lines, in ink, addressed on verso, signed Nelson & Bronte. 7¼x4¾.
Invitation from then Vice Admiral Horatio Nelson to Captain William Bligh, handwritten by Nelson (though the address on verso seems to be in a secretarial hand), made just after the victorious Battle of Copenhagen, as the British naval forces were still anchored in Copenhagen Harbor and negotiations were underway. Nelson writes: "My Dear Sir, Will you do me the favor of dining on board the St. George this day… your truly obliged Nelson & Bronte, Apr. 5th, 1801." It is addressed on the verso: "Capt. Bligh, H.M. Ship Glatten."
