DESCRIPTION: TLS in German, one page, dated December 25, 1930, signed "L. Trotsky". Letter to an unidentified publisher expressing his concerns about the publication of the first volume of the History of the Russian Revolution. In part, "My friend Max Eastman writes me about the postponement on the German edition of the first volume of the History of the Russian Revolution. There is hardly anything to be done...Your publishing house energetically insisted that I send my book to New York in spite of the inconvenience resulting therefrom, chapter by chapter in the original text, so that as stated in your letter the publishing house has the opportunity to translate the book chapter wise and place it in the American press. At the last moment I learn this has not been notoriously encroached upon, I cannot demand of Mr. Fischer that he sacrifice his interests for my sake. In any case I write to him." Trotsky was a Russian Communist leader who with Lenin organized Bolshevik seizure of power in the October Revolution of 1917. Includes COA from PSA/DNA Authentication Services. MEASUREMENTS: 8-1/2" x 13-1/4". CONDITION: Trivial edge tear to right side, light fold marks.
