Description
The piece is from the Mandan-Arikara Upper Missouri Native American Indians painted Buffalo Hide. The piece is from the Ft. Bethhold Indian Village Upper Missouri River (Dakota Territory). Rare story telling original tribal painting. The Great American Bison Buffalo robe has been Indian brain tanned and smoked. The piece still retains some of the rich brown fur on the reverse and also the supple hide (very well tanned). The piece is from circa early 1900's and is an exceedingly rare item. Measures 110"x95".
