University Baseball Team Japan Tours Photo Collection (162), Many Autographed
This lot includes approximately 162 photos from 1920's-30's U.S. university and other baseball tours to Japan, including 48 autographed photos. Three of the signed photos are of legendary university baseball coaches – Yale's Smokey Joe Wood, Michigan's Ray Fisher, and California's Clinton "Clint" Evans. Tours and players included are: University of Michigan (1929 and 1932 tours); Yale University (1935); University of Illinois (1928); University of California (1929); University of Chicago (1930); University of Hawaii (1932); and the 1928 Ty Cobb Goodwill Tour (Herb Hunter, Ray Shawkey and Japanese Hall of Famer Michimaro Ono). Photos range in size from 2 1/4" by 3 1/8" to 3 by 4 1/2". Signatures average 8/10. LOAs from PSA/DNA and JSA.
