Large Format Original Photo of Final Out of 1924 World Series
This spectacular 11" by 14" original photo captured the greatest moment in Washington baseball history, when on October 12, 1924 the Washington Senators won their first and only World's Championship. The click of the camera's shutter caught the exuberant crowd packed within Griffith Stadium as they held their collective breath just after the "Nats" Ed McNeeley smashed an improbable game winning single. The photo also shows the hitting hero himself watching the scene he created unfold from just beyond first base as his teammate Muddy Ruel scampered home for the victory. The game's winning pitcher, Walter Johnson appears standing on second base in anticipation of the frenzy and euphoria about to engulf the stadium. The condition of the photo is excellent with superb image clarity and only a few tears that affect the edges. The back of the photo contains minor foxing.
