1895 Original Oversized Basketball Team Cabinet Ph

1895 Original Oversized Basketball Team Cabinet Photograph
Dr. James Naismith invented the game of basketball while working as a physical education instructor at the YMCA International Training School in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1891. A year later, Naismith published his original 13 rules and the game's popularity began to mushroom, at first to other YMCA's but soon to colleges and schools across the land. Today basketball is the most popular indoor sport in the world. This crystal clear sepia toned image of a nine player YMCA championship basketball team dates from 1894-95, only two short years after the game's first rules were published. The photo itself measures 10 1/2" by 14 1/2" and is affixed to a cabinet style mount that has been trimmed to fit the vintage frame it currently resides in.
