Nate Thurmond 1960's San Francisco Warriors Warm-Up Jacket
Nate Thurmond was an aggressive rebounder-defender who played at the forward position along side superstar Wilt Chamberlain for the Philadelphia Warriors and sometimes served as his backup at center. In spite of playing on the same team as the dominant Chamberlain, Thurmond made an impact and was named to the NBA All-Rookie Team in 1964. When Chamberlain was traded back to Philadelphia's new franchise, the 76ers, Thurmond became the All-Star starting center Chamberlain said he could be. Among his many accomplishments, Thurmond still holds the regular season record for rebounds in a quarter with 18. He averaged 21.3 and 22.0 rebounds per game in the 1966-67 and 1967-68 seasons — season averages exceeded by only Bill Russell and Chamberlain in NBA history. This San Francisco Warriors warm up jacket was worn by the Hall of Famer Thurmond in the late 1960's. In the neck of the jacket is the "Wilson" label with the size "046" and below is a label reading "+4 Body" written in blue magic marker. Fabulous design elements include the name "Warriors" in blue embroidered letters and intricately embroidered Indian headdress on the left breast. On the back of the jacket is a cable car with the letters "SF." On the left sleeve is a circle with an embroidered Golden Gate bridge and the player number "42." Above this circle are the words "The City." Both the letters and the numbers are made of blue embroidered stitch. The jacket shows wear and appears to have no alterations of any kind. LOAs from MEARS (A10) and Grey Flannel.
