George Gervin 1970's San Antonio Spurs Home Jersey w/ Shorts
Nicknamed "Iceman" for his cool demeanor on the court, Gervin was primarily known for his scoring talents. After playing college ball at Eastern Michigan University and Long Beach State, Gervin was set to try out for the Virginia Squires of the ABA. It is rumored that Gervin made 22 of 25 three-point attempts, after which he was signed without Virginia officials having seen him play competitively. Gervin would go on to lead the NBA in scoring three years in a row from 1978 to 1980 (with a high of 33.1 points per game in 1979-80), and again in 1982. Prior to Michael Jordan, Gervin had the most scoring titles of any guard in league history. His trademark was the "finger roll," a technique consisting of shooting by rolling the basketball along his fingertips. While others mimicked this style when shooting layups, Gervin was known to "finger roll" from as far as the free throw line. This San Antonio Spurs home mesh jersey was worn by George Gervin in the late 1970's. On the back left tail is the "Sand-Knit" label with the size "38." All lettering and numbers are made of black on white tackle twill including the name "Spurs" across the front of the jersey and his name "Gervin" on back. A pair of Gervin's signed shorts that date from the early 1980's accompany the jersey. LOAs from MEARS (A9.5) and Grey Flannel.
