Casey Stengel 1959 New York Yankees Home Jersey
This home white flannel pinstriped jersey was donned by the famed Yankee skipper in the season in which he garnered his 1000^th win at the helm of baseball's most dominant franchise. Identification of his name and year "Stengel" is chain-stitched on a felt nameplate in the collar. Tagging on the front tail includes a "Spalding" label and an adjacent "59" year designation in chain stitch. A wash tag in stitched on the inside of the front tail. This Stengel jersey was designated for use by a minor league team at some point resulting in some typical alterations. These include the "NY" logo on front being changed to an "H" and Stengel's number 37 on back being changed to 22. Original buttons, tagging and Stengel's undisturbed name in the collar make this a prime candidate for restoration. Substantial game wear is evident, including a few small holes on the back.
