1950's Vintage Mickey Mantle Single Signed Baseball (PSA/DNA Graded 8)
Relative to the number of Mickey Mantle single signed balls dating from the 1980's, such Mantle relics of vintage origin are nearly non-existent. Gracing the sweet spot of this light to creamy-toned OAL (Harridge) ball is the blue fountain pen signature of Mickey Mantle. Penned during the mid to late 1950's, the signature speaks of Triple Crowns, tape measure home runs and World Championships. Perhaps it stems from the inherent respect that normally comes with age, or the special association one feels knowing that Mantle held this ball in his hand during the prime of his career, but whatever it may be, the ball exudes an aura that could not be matched by its modern equivalent. Vintage Mickey Mantle "sweet spot" singles are seldom encountered today in any condition, with this ball certainly ranking amongst the finest known examples. PSA/DNA has assigned it an overall aggregate of 8. LOAs from PSA/DNA (Graded 8) and JSA.
