DUKE SNIDER Circa 1950-60 H&B GAME USED BAT
With Willie Mays of the Giants and Mickey Mantle of the Yankees, the Dodgers' Duke Snider was one of a trio of Hall of Fame centerfielders about whom fans debated one of the most frequently asked baseball questions of the 1950s: "Who's the best centerfielder in New York?" Snider made his best argument for topping the list in Brooklyn's magical 1955 season when helped lead them to their only World Series title and was named as The Sporting News Player of The Year. This classic Hillerich & Bradsby Duke Snider professional model C117L bat dates from that period and shows evidence of outstanding use with a handle crack. Many ball marks are visible on the right, left and back sides of the barrel. Also, visible on the bat are numerous cleat marks. The handle features Snider's trademark original white handle tape in the typical criss-cross pattern. The model number (C117L) is stamped into the knob and Snider's number "4" is visible in faint black marker. The extent of visible use and the distinctive player characteristics make this is an appealing gamer from the hands of "The Duke of Flatbush". Length: 35". Weight: 33 oz. LOA from MEARS (Grade A8.5).
