Produced by Chrysler for Desoto, the Custom was Desoto’s top trim level car. Production was limited to just 623 models in 1950. The Custom 9 passenger Suburban was the first “consumer-designed” station wagon. The design was all limousine with facing doors, 3 row seating, and 3 windows on each side. Different from the Deluxe model, the Custom had a wooden roof rack accenting the luxury appeal. The Suburban was powered by a L-Head inline 6 cylinder 236 cu in 83 hp engine. With an automatic 4 speed transmission, top speed was 83 mph. Featured here is a pristine restored example of the 1950 Desoto Custom Suburban.
