A range of Ford full-sized cars wore various forms of the LTD nameplate from 1965 to 1991 in the United States. The LTD debuted as the highest trim level on the 1965 full-sized name, Galaxie 500 LTD. It became its own series for the first time in 1966. For the 1969 model year, the LTD was given a major design change. Based largely on the prior LTD chassis but stretched to 121 inches in length. In 1971, the LTD was given a styling update. The rear “jet exhaust tail lights were replaced by horizontal tail lamps around a center third brake light. The hidden headlights were dropped and the LTD got a new front end with tall center grill with LTD spelled out. 1972 Models were virtually the same as the 1971. 1972 would be the last year of the LTD convertible. Offered is a nice “driver quality” 1972 Ford LTD convertible. Finished in metallic burgundy with white power top and interior, the power came from a Cleveland 400 cu in engine through an 3-speed automatic transmission. The last year LTD convertible is loaded with options including power windows, power brakes, power steering and air conditioning.
